Here's looking forward to a GOOD LIFE in 2011

I've been hearing another new song of OneRepublic lately...
and it seems apt to usher in this new year!
THINK GOOD VIBES!
BETTER VIBES FOR 2011!!!

and another fanmade vid of this one I viewed
made me nostalgic about London!
gosh! wonder when i can go back to visit again?!
*sigh*

Good Life
by OneRepublic

Woke up in London yesterday
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly
Don't really know how I got here
I got some pictures on my phone

New names and numbers that I don't know
Address to places like Abbey Road
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want
We're young enough to say

[Chorus]

Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

[Verse 2]

To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don't know
Where I've been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Col-or-ado

Sometimes there's airplanes I can' t jump out
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work now
We are god of stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

[Bridge 1]

When you're happy like a fool
Let it take you over
When everything is out
You gotta take it in

[Bridge 2]

Hopelessly
I feel like there might be something that I'll miss
Hopelessly
I feel like the window closes oh so quick
Hopelessly
I'm taking a mental picture of you now
'Cuz hopelessly
The hope is we have so much to feel good about

Weeks 5, 6, 7 & 8 - Percy Jackson

I finished reading Speak yesterday and it made me thankful that my high school was quite normal, uneventful and boring but still had its moments... Thank goodness the book had its resolution because I thought the villain won't get his comeuppance!

*****

Since it's the Christmas season, school's out so that means I have a short 2 week vacation of sorts till next year and to kill some time - in between checking journals of my students - I thought of reading children's books for my book challenge - well maybe a little bit "young adult" to be more precise...

I'll continue reading the
Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan

Week 5

Week 6

Week 7

Week 8

Well I have a month to finish the series, so I'd get back next year!

Week 4 - Speak

I finished reading The Reader way ahead of my limit of 7 days! I think this is the 1st time I liked the movie better than the book... Well that's me...

*****
A few weeks back we visited our relatives in San Pablo, Laguna and I noticed in my cousin's room that there were books littering her cabinet... I investigated and asked who owns them and can I borrow a few... Of course I was thinking of options for my book challenge what else?!
And when I saw this book... This really struck me as familiar... right then and there I went online and checked whether this book SPEAK by Laurie Halse Anderson is the same movie of Kristen Stewart a few years back.. What I had on hand was this one and not the movie-tie-in book cover then I would have immediately have my answer yeah?

So even if it took me some time to decide what my next book would be - I've been toying with the idea of finally reading Dante's Inferno! I've been borrowing it from our school library and still haven't continued reading it! So I'll forfeit that! haha if I change my mind I have it on ebook anyway and can read it thru Stanza in my iTouch - and I thought why not read this story about a high school student who chose to be mum for her own reasons and defense mechanism...

Let's see how this book will change my impression of American high school students...

Let's play photo caption: Once Upon A Time...

Let me tell you a story...

Once upon a time...

there were a few people crossing the street...

trying to look for something that will amuse this little girl...

they tried to make her laugh with toys

even Jollibee needed help to make her laugh...

Mighty Kid: "why not show her how strong I am?!"...

"Duh! Sorry! I'm still not amused!"...

Well I guess only a certain kind of person will find these antics funny then...

Or maybe someone can make her laugh...
Hmmmmm....

Maybe someone who's trying to concentrate
and appear to know what he's doing...

Little girl: "Tee-heee that's funny!"

Mission accomplished...

THE END!

Week 3 - The Reader

Just so you know... I was done reading Her Fearful Symmetry last Wednesday (oops, 1 day more than my limit) and it was quite a weird interesting story... that's all I can say... for sure I liked her debut novel way better than this one.

I was planning on reading a classic novel and started with a few pages... though I'm not sure whether I'll continue on with that or just return it to our school library...
I was also caught up uploading and syncing files in my new toy which I really plan to use mainly as an ebook reader...

and so....

I decided to start reading

THE READER
by Bernhard Schlink

on the iBook in my iTouch...
GAH! GOOD LUCK with that!
I hope my eyes can survive this! haha

Oh and you may find that I started late with my new week in my book challenge...
as I said I was sort of preoccupied with stuff...so I'll just limit myself to reading a new book within a week!
So still it's a 52 week book challenge! haha
Excuses excuses huh...
