meet joe black (raving about it yet again)

I really can't help but blog about this... I know MEET JOE BLACK is an old movie (1998) of Brad Pitt but I only just realized (yet again) how much I really love this movie - it is my all time fave movie character of his - after downloading a copy of this on my iPod (I already have this on DVD and yes I watched it when it was shown in the cinemas the last time) and spending 3 hours watching it before I went to sleep last night! This is one movie I don't mind rewinding and watching all over again...The next thing on my list is to look for the soundtrack! haha

Meet Joe Black (1998)

Directed by: Martin Brest

And the best quote from this movie:

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. If you don’t start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who’ll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I’m not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you’ll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven’t lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived.
- William Parrish

Week 10 - By The River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept

Since my last book, All The Pretty Horses, made me break my challenge - I finished reading that just last Sunday because I was either too busy and wasn't too engrossed in it - I thought of choosing a "lighter" book to read (that makes me rethink including the Millenium trilogy in my book challenge now that is a long read for sure!)

I'm choosing a lighter read for my next book and I do hope I stick to this...
and don't be too surprised but I really haven't read this one

Brain Fart: I learned what GLOBAL thinkers are...

I learned that the opposite of analytical and critical thinkers...are GLOBAL thinkers!
Let me describe such thinking...
It happens when one would readily make assumptions and would usually jump to the wrong conclusions (because of them)...without first understanding the whole situation...
It may also happen when one would have to take time to really understand basic instructions/information...not just merely relying on common sense...and yet come to think of it maybe it is a lack of common sense...
It may also happen when one sees the bigger picture...neglecting the smaller parts...then making generalizations... leading to hasty decision making...
Or maybe...global thinkers are merely those who can not seem to read between the lines
and take the time to understand what is right in front of them!

So sue me if my brain just farted!

Week 9 - All The Pretty Horses

I finished the Percy Jackson series way before my deadline - the series is OK if you're the type who wants to discover and memorize lots of character names and in this case Greek names and Greek stories like you're reliving your high school days and taking a quiz after reading it - I just stuck to my timetable and am now starting a new book this week...

*****

Remember the pile of books I borrowed from a cousin in the province, which were apparently old books shipped by my dad to them?... Well my next book is one of those books...and after googling it...I of course did not know that there already was a movie made based on it - starring Matt Damon and Penelope' Cruz (I might just find that movie some time). Let's see now how much I would like reading a "western" story...

What I miss doing...in 2010

In retrospect...2010 for me was uneventful
in the sense that
there were a few things that I used to do
which unfortunately I didn't get to do much...

I didn't get to hangout as much and watch the usual gigs...
but I do remember being able to watch Paramore haha

I haven't traveled in a long while...
as my expired passport is proof of
but I do remember this spontaneous trip to Boracay on my birthday!
(didn't need a passport for that for sure! I know! it's been an inside joke in my barkada)

I miss going to my usual home away from home...
the nearest Starbucks! haha
I really used to frequent that place as in weekly!
but not that much last year...
only when it's on my way home or something
but I do remember I was able to avail their latest planner!
so how did that happen?! haha

Seriously now...
What I really miss doing is...
participating in an outreach...
as often as I used to do...

But thanks to my friends
Sitti and her relentless supporters - the Sittizens

who never tire of not just supporting Sitti and her gigs
but also supporting her outreach activities...

I'm so thankful that they are around
to consistently help out the unfortunate ones...
and I make it a point...
as long as I am free...and able to...
I participate in these outreach activities

Sittizens' Outreach for Silid Aralan Foundation
Montalban, Rizal
November 14, 2010

I don't mind missing Pacquiao's game that day
and heading off to this far away place in Rizal...

it was my first time to visit these kids...

I'm sure they enjoyed the "quiz bee" we had prepared for them
and the many gifts (from sponsors and donors)

I bet they enjoyed that day!

It's OBVIOUS that I ENJOYED TOO!!!

and before the year ended...
as tradition...the Sittizens have their annual Christmas party
with the scholars from Don Bosco Batulao

Being informed of the scheduled date weeks before,
I was really excited and wanted to join...
I checked my schedule and I was free that day...
but one thing led to another...
AND I ALMOST WASN'T ABLE TO GO
(yet again!)

Now I thank Divine Providence!...
that I was able to go...finally!

Sittizens' Annual Christmas Party
at Don Bosco Batulao
December 18, 2010

One thing that I like whenever we go visit the place,
is that we get to squeeze in a short recollection...

and after being amazed by the scholars' presentation...

we went back to the main venue

for more fun and
sharing of talents...

AND!

aside from the Sittizens visitng the scholars that day
(I forgot that) the Las Piñas Boys Choir
were joining us too!

The scholars enjoyed being sung to by one of the best choirs in the country!
If only I had a camcorder that day or a recorder!
Gosh! goosebumps!
They are so good!

Even if I had to cut short my visit with them
and run back to Manila a little earlier than planned..

I just bet that these kids...
are so grateful for the many blessings
they received that day...

Define...gratifying...
Those 2 events of last year was IT for me!
