what to do at the beach except swim

To beat the heat during summer, the faithful flock to the nearest beach and either scorch themselves under the sun even more or drench themselves in the ocean...

During my last beach adventure this summer, I was only able to swim during the last night of my trip! So as expected - no tan lines! haha

I filled my days doing other stuff...

Finding and fullfilling my Starbucks caffeine fix

Eating some Mexican food together with a margarita

Tasting Inihaw na Hotdog for the first time! (yah no kidding!)

Learning to drive a bugcar - thank gawd it's automatic!

Facing our fears and riding the ZIPLINE

and going up PARASAILING

and finally

relaxing by the beach with a morning stroll...

taking pictures of people enjoying the wild surf...

and lounging while having a henna tattoo

And after all has been said and DONE!

don't forget to give thanks for the wonderful blessings...

be grateful that you can always find the opportunity

to have a vacation

spontaneous trip = birthday celebration

The last time I had what I would call an itch to go out of town and travel was way back 2006, that was when I wanted to spend sembreak out of town - I ended up spending it in Cebu with Zheila (former officemate) -
to relive our adventure in Cebu click here: Cebu adventure with Zheila

But even before that, there have been summers that I spend out of the country with family - been to London, HK and Singapore during one of those many summers long ago - or out of town with friends - officemates for our usual company outing or with my college barkada, the last one being in Balay Indang

Maybe I'm just lucky that my birthday falls on a summer so I would almost always end up having beach outings or out-of-town trips...I remember having to go on trips every year on my birthday without fail haha... I participated in an outreach a few summers back in Batulao with the Sittizens and spent my birthday last year during our first office teambuilding, but still out of town...

I didn't get to go out much during my birthday anymore and not that often really

So how different will this birthday be?

So how did I spend it?

I spent it in the sandy white beach of Boracay!

my SOLO beach outing

I have always been planning...fantasizing...visualizing...
going on an out-of-town trip ALL ON MY OWN...
but unfortunately it hasn't happened yet!
but at least with these photos of my recent beach outing...
at least it gave me the illusion that I did have a SOLO travel adventure!
Wohoo!!!

too sleepy to change my position

gonna eat all that

solitaire anyone?

a game of billiard perhaps?

how about a game of tag?

let me just take photos then

or just eat and eat the whole time

other things to do at a beach outing

I may not frequent the beach during summer vacations that much and I abhor getting a sunburn like the next person...but I do know of OTHER things to do at a beach outing aside from swimming and getting a tan!

take pictures of people, the sites and just about anything

using your dslr camera

or just any other ordinary digicam

there are lots of things to do at any sandy beach

walk along the shore...

or take a piggyback ride...

or just fool around and pose

and have fun while you're at it...

some are even fortunate to catch a sponsored show or beach party by the sandy beach

and what's a beach outing without the physical activities?

the challenging beach volleyball

and an even more exhausting game of dodge ball

or are you game for patintero?

but if those things are too strenuous for you why not try...

playing "bato-bato-pick"

or make a sand castle instead?

maybe some are eager for a different kind of pool...

or are eager to tell scary ghost stories...

though still some are content just to find a quiet spot...

to read a good book

or to simply relax and to contemplate

so whichever you choose to do

just be grateful you had the time for another beach outing...
