Funding for 40th Birthday Trip

Funding for 40th Birthday Trip: To celebrate my 40th birthday this year, I am set to go on a solo vacation to Cebu and ask for pledges for pocket money for that trip AND donations for the outreach/advocacy that I currently support – a group of scholars for their schooling.

It took me a year to blog again...

I remembered to check my blog and lo and behold...
My last post was more than a year ago...
so what happened?
I guess I was too stuck on other socmed platforms like Twitter and Instagram to bother much and sit down and really blog about something...
Or perhaps...
Taking time out to write about something is not what it used to be for me...

I don't know...
I usually post something because I feel like it...
Well check out my Twitter feed and IG and you'll know that I have been busy fangirling over
this phenomenal loveteam from the Philippines... that's a different matter altogether...

Anyway...
what is there to talk about?
My life is still the same old same boring one from last year...

My birthday last Wednesday just passed like usual...
Stayed home and ate with family to celebrate...
Maybe perhaps as you grow older... celebrating doesn't matter much...
Or I I said to myself I celebrated my birthday last month already with a trip to Boracay so...

When I came back to work yesterday and treated my ofcmates for lunch...
One of them asked me... what was my birthday wish...
And off the bat I answered...

For time to stop...

Of course as expected you can't stop my ofcmate with such a vague answer as that without her prodding me a bit more...

I just said that that was the first thing that popped in my head...
I don't know what I would've answered if I were given more time to ponder on it...

So of course my other ofcmates just had to ask more...

And I had the time to rethink my answer...

Perhaps what I meant...
I wish I had no worries in the world...
I wish I can have more than a day to do things or not to do things...
I wish that time would stop and the day will not end...
I wish that I didn't have to care much about whatever or whoever...
I wish I can be so carefree...
I wish simply for time to stop...

Perhaps it's because I am getting old...

With age comes cynicism...

If only I can go back to being younger...
If only I have no cares in the world...
Just thinking of getting even with my playmate who beat me in our last game of tumbang preso or patintero or jackstone...
If only I just had my mom's sermon to worry about or what my friends would say about my new haircut... who cares anyway?

If only I can go back to being younger...
but come to think of it...
there are perks to being older too...
Can you name a few off the bat?
I can be accountable for every decision I make and just have my conscious to guilt trip me...
well including my parents too and self-righteous people...

I can be accountable for every mistake
for every expense...
Wait! Scratch that... I want somebody else to commit the mistakes...
I want somebody else to spend for me...

If only I can have unlimited source of everything that I want and need and wish for
like Aladdin with a genie from a lamp granting not just 3 wishes and no conditions...

But I don't have a lamp...

All I have though are other things that matter...

I have family...
they love me as much as they can...

I have friends...
They're not much...
but they can stand my aloof, crazy personality and idiosyncrasies...

I have the experience of the past 36 years to help me survive and go forward...
It might not be much...
I might always be ranting or raving whichever the mood strikes
But hey...
I'm still grateful...
I just don't show it much...

A week before and a week after

I celebrated my birthday a week earlier because of a special request of one of my friends who will be leaving on my birthday week... So I met up with my close college friends for that...

And a few days after my birthday, just last Monday, me and my "old gang" met up after so long and celebrated my birthday too... Had red wine for dinner and milk and cookies and pudding for dessert...

Incidentally both celebrations, though from 2 different circle of friends, all happened in Ortigas!

It seems like it's turning out to be "my place" to hangout with friends...

Hahaha

I know it might sound pathetic but...

It has been a habit of mine to stay awake and usher in my special day...
So earlier or precisely late last night I tried to stay awake but unfortunately
I dozed off and the next time I checked my phone it was around 1230am already?...
I dragged myself and went out to our living room....
found a candle - a red altar candle to be exact haha - lit it
and sang to myself!

A rainy groggy birthday

It used to be Wed/Thursdays, now it's Friday or Saturday

I've been MIA lately in gimmicks. It's either one of 2 things - no time and no spending money - most often it's both to my chagrin! But I'm glad to say that I always find the time and ways to meet up with friends as much as I can...

2 weeks ago, we had Friday off in school to celebrate our school president's birthday with the usual party and eating in Seton

That Saturday, I met up with mJ, Joy and Katek! I miss these guys and twas fun catching up! And as expected we did the catching up over dining and Starbucks and picture taking in between

Another group of dear friends that I miss too are my Psychos buddies! Fortunately for us Misty took my usual role of "getogether organizer" and contacted each one of us and set it on the first Friday of September - in Ortigas! Huwat?! Not again! haha But of course it would be to their advantage - Misty who works near Tiendesitas, Gutz who will come from the Fort, Jojoyce from Makati, Za from Manila, Aids who works in Ortigas too (but didn't show up coz he was sick! yah right! haha) and Tzi all the way from Navotas (due to unfortunate circumstances at work was unable to leave too) - waaaaa I'm the only one from down South! If it not for the free ride home (3 of us live down south anyway), I would hesitate from heading for another Ortigas adventure
Add to that - I left straight from work and was welcomed by a downpour when I got down in Megamall! You know the Aegis song...eto ako basang basa sa ulan...walang masisilungan? - good thing I had my trusty umbrella with me coz i had to walk from megamall to Home Depot down in J. Vargas street - I always do since it's faster than riding a taxi or what...
For the first time? no pictures for this getogether! ha! Misty forgot her digicam!Haha oh well, we enjoyed catching up and gossiping anyway...talking about Babies and Beaver! Say who?! What? haha
So instead of photos, I'd just share the link of the resto where we ate at citywalk, I mean metrodepot...no wait! it's Home Depot! haha

Now this week end, it's another Friday holiday! Muslim holiday - end of Ramadan...and for us it's my little cousin Alyanna's 10th birthday! 10 years old on September 10! Cool! We're heading up to their house for dinner...then tomorrow, it's my sis Kisan's birthday! We might just celebrate it by stalking the RAIN concert in MOA! haha
Wonder if we'll get photos from this long holiday weekend....

my birthday food chronicle

I was looking forward to a different birthday this year

and despite my spontaneous Boracay weekend trip - with my friend Chi

I still kinda felt incomplete in a way coz as shallow as my reason is

I wanted to have a normal birthday cake!

which I realized I didn't get except for this:

I appreciate the sentiment don't get me wrong (thanks Chi )

but as I said I was shallow and wanted a real birthday cake!

but hey! I still got to blow my candle -

as big as the one used during blackouts! wohoo!

So to compensate for my birthday cake

I ended up having

a (almost one) month long celebration

with friends

AND FOOD!!!

(oh and don't forget the margarita )

Now off to eating bar food!

Maybe it was just served hot but I really found it delicious
