I'm Yours for a Wedding

We were talking about wedding songs with my officemate who is about to get married this weekend... and we were bouncing off ideas of wedding songs...and ended up suggesting this one by Jason Mraz

Funny thing was, I discovered that my other friend, who's also getting married this year, plans to use this as her wedding march! wahahaha...

This just seems like a very cool wedding song...we can all start a trend haha

There's this one version in imeem that I eally really like and I can't find a download of it haha http://www.imeem.com/isaacgandalf/music/9jvpKg9v/jason-mraz-im-yours/

I'm Yours
by Jason Mraz

Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but your so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks, now I'm tryin to get back
before the cool done run out I'll be givin it my best test
and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait
I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music at the moment people dance and sing with me
Were just 1 big family
And it's our godforsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved
So, i won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait i'm sure
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate
I'm yours
Scooch on over closer, dear
And I will nibble your ear
I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror
and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I'd be sayin' is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do
our name is our virtue
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more it cannot wait
I'm yours
well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la one big family
it's your god forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved
open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la happy family
it's our god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved
it's our god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la peaceful melodies
it's you god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved

another music appreciation lessons @ 19East

I get regular gig updates from 19East, and for the month of May I zoomed in on what gigs are set for my birthday weekend...and when I saw that on May 22 there were 3 musicians up - Itchyworms, Julianne and Silent Sanctuary - for a small and affordable entrance fee..and I thought...why the hell not?!

Unfortunately though, since we had dinner first - me together with mJ and Patch - we kinda missed the first set which was Itchyworms! We were having dinner outside the venue which had it's own music blaring in the outside speakers so we didn't realize that the band was already playing inside....By the time we went in - to a not so SRO crowd - they were down to their last 2 songs?! Huwat?! Well it was around 11pm by then anyway...Still the band was good they seem to be just like having a jammin of their own in one of the bandmates' living room haha... Will have to watch them live again to give them a more appropriate "review"

And up next...Julianne! wohoo! It's been a loooooong time since I've seen her perform - live or on TV (which I hardly do much of anyway)...and still she makes each performance endearing and intimate with her soulful and passionate renditions of her originals...We were glad to hear too that she has plans for another album...and she sang her new song "Liwanag" - will watch out for that for sure! Isn't it obvious that she is one of the musicians that I love to watch?

The next band to perform that night was not familiar to me - like all the other bands haha - But Silent Sanctuary amazed me to say the least... I didn't expect that you can mix string instruments - violin and cello - with the usual band instruments of rhythm and bass and all that... At first their songs were too loud for my taste - maybe beacuse they were singing live and the acoustics in the place really amplified their performance - but their songs whihc were mostly in Filipino seemed more heartfelt and "totoo"... I honestly don't like songs "na pang-masa" and those novelty songs coz their too cheesy for me ... but the band's songs were hmmmm worth listening to even if I hardly understood the lyrics haha... maybe this is a sign for me to get a copy of their album and see for myself really...i mean really....Hmmmm.... Silent Sanctuary seems like another band that I can look forward to ...

Another first...my birthday surprise

I really wasn't looking forward to my birthday this year...Aside from hitting the big three-oh, I knew I would not be able to celebrate it anyway since I'd be in our teambuilding seminar in Talisay, Batangas...despite it being a sort of vacation/work for us...still I'd be "celebrating" it with colleagues...to whom I was really keeping my birthday a secret...well too bad! they still found out about it anyway...

Since I wasn't that excited about my birthday I celebrated way before that weekend...which I know will be busy and tiring to say the least....I met up with my college friends - Tuesday club and all that...and I also watched a gig Friday Night at 19East with my Sittizens friends too...and really expected not to enjoy my birthday weekend that much - coz it's all seriousness and work - what else could I expect in a Teambuilding seminar?!

But to my surprise...and this is the first time that ever happened to me mind you...my officemates had something up their sleeves...and a few minutes before midnight of my birthday...while we were drinking bottles of SanMig Light (may promo pa?!) ...and my officemate was singing "Careless Whisper" projected on screen (now this song is truly memorable aside from the HK-KH scandal haha)...at 2:37 of the video below...my scandal begins haha

Thanks so much to Jayson, Pat, Sheila, Emma, Grace, Sir Alan, Sir James, Liza, our new colleague Michelle, Melai, Marga, Ms. Rose and to our facilitators Tei and Mia for celebrating my birthday with me...

I truly appreciated the effort and the mocha cake!

Will blog more about my birthday weekend soon...

things I do that still surprise me

For the past seven years, I've been working with students.... And every time I get up in front of a crowd of kids, I still get anxious and nervous and at times even stutter or is at a loss for words - honestly I am not articulate... I may speak English intimidatingly...but that's all there is to it... I still am most often than not unable to express my thoughts coherently... maybe since I jump from one idea to the next that my mouth can't follow that I end up talking way too fast haha... I remembered before that my kids would have to catch my attention to ask me to slow down...

*****

I can really stay up late at night as long as I have someone to spend it with - talking the night away... As In!... I can come up with any question just to keep the conversation going... I hate silence - a lull in the conversation... I would really come up with follow up questions...I would even usually interrupt esp when I am on a roll and want to pursue a line of thought...My way of interrogating a suspect haha... Persistent is how others may call me...Or maybe this is just my way of knowing the other person and keeping the attention away from me haha...

*****

I have been told on numerous occasions, that I have a strong personality... At times I don't know whether that is a compliment or not and most often I stubbornly refute the idea... Coz honestly I find that it repels other people, smaller people than me haha... But I can look at it this way, maybe they're not worth my time if they get intimated by me so easily...nyahahaha

I think simply put...suplada lang talaga ako...sorry na! hahaha...And I believe I haven't met anyone who can top my look of intimidation and am fearful of that person whoever he/she is haha...

Another Heartwarming Experience in Batulao

Don Bosco Batulao
May 15-17, 2009

I spent an awe-inspiring, fun-filled, enjoyable and enlightening weekend in Don Bosco Batulao with my Sittizens friends and our Don Bosco Batulao scholars. We shared our experiences and had a career orientation-outreach of sorts, wherein we were able to give them an idea of what careers or future they could have once they step out of their schools... The scholars were not the only ones who learned but I admit I learned a lot those days too...

giving what we can

Sitti + Sittizens with the Don Bosco Batulao Scholars

Batulao

Chapel on the Hill

The place was very conducive for us to find some time to just relax and rediscover ourselves, our spirituality and revel in the love of our Great Father, found in the scenes around us and in the people spendng that weekend with us.

Being an observer, I was priviledged to know more about my friends, their concerns, their likes and peeves and even their corniest jokes!...these opportunities gave me the chance to discover that yup! we have a lot of things in common... that simply - we are all children of our Lord, put on this earth to find our purpose and to live our life to the fullest...

discussions

reflections and sharing

even more contemplating

And at the end of the day after all of the seriousness and reflections... You can always expect one thing from us...

Sittizens will be Sittizens
and we'll always find the time to delve deeper and discover more about each other... even to the point of tormenting each other just to get the answers haha...

enjoy, laugh and have fun over the others' antics and spills and fubs...

and to harrass and take snapshots of just about anything and everybody...

Admit it... when all has been said and done...we are camwhores!!!

But hey! I don't hear anyone complaining?!

You know what I am always grateful for... aside from God's love and my family...I am always thankful for having my friends - with whom I will always have good and lasting relationships... Kudos!

how to blog about blogging

For some reason I can't come up with an interesting blogpost about my weekend - my QC adventure weekend to be exact. It seems that I was really overwhelmed and suffered an information overload that now I don't know which are the highlights and how to blog about it.

So let me just simply tell you that...

A few weeks back, JP and Carl, mentioned an iblog summit they were to attend, the last time we were at Sitti's gig... That certainly got our attention - me and mJ to be exact. So we checked online and registered for the iblog5 Summit on May 9 at UP Diliman. It was for free anyway, so why the hell not.

So fast forward to May 9 and my QC adventure...Thankfully I arrived safely at Museo Juco and spent 2 nights there - thanks to mJ and her family for the hospitality as always.

Click here to check out TheHeirloomManila

Together with mJ, early Saturday, we went to UP Diliman and saw for ourselves what this blog summit was all about. And wow! I learned a lot! And that's an understatement. Goodness! Blogging is a small world - there really is a community of online bloggers. It's a social network all on its own.

I don't want to bore you with the topics discussed - blogging 101, photoblogging, videoblogging, mobile blogging, micro blogging, marketing, blogging and the elections, how to earn from blogging, promotions etc - but suffice it to say... Now I see the blogging community in an enitrely different light. It certainly convinced me to put up another personal blogsite haha. We even had Carl and this popular blogger Azrael, check out mJ's The Heirloom Manila.

Will probably check out more blogging events and summits and add to my blogger friends.
