Breaking Dawn...the final book in the Twilight series

sorry no spoilers here...so you better get your own copy =P

so after a few weeks...i guess a month of waiting for the last book in the Twilight series...I was able to grab my copy one rainy Friday night in Makati (huwat?!? sa Makati pa haha)

and wanted to assuage my curiousity...and maybe prove the "bad reviews" wrong...i've been reading spoilers and criticisms about Meyer's final book in the series...there are good and bad reviews i guess...but hey as the author said...you can't please everybody...why not write your own book and see if that sells over 1.3M copies on its opening day of release haha

so let me just share some of the critics sentiments...and see why they would have thought differently of the final book...

when i was selecting the genre for this review...i was battling whether to still classify this as a romance or just simply as a teens or fantasy book...coz unlike in the previous books...there were not a lot of romantic scenes or even quotes...so maybe that's where the romantics got all disgruntled about...

another point is that...maybe they have not realized thatfor some book series...it would be expected that the plot will growand move into a different direction from wat would be expected...that's what makes the novel even better...it's when you still become surprised of the ending...and is not just any other ordinary preditable series...well it was still predictable in the sense that it had a happy ending...typical Meyer...

so if you guys are like me who are more motivated to buy a book despite reading spoilers and bad reviews about a book...then go ahead and buy this book...
it's worth it!...all the 754 pages of it...

so...I will be anticipating the spinoffs...the movie! (was moved to an earlier release date yey!)...and other things Meyer might be cooking up for her Twilgiht Saga =P

I give this a rating of 4 stars!
and the whole Twilight Saga a rating of 5 stars!
wohoo!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Riveting!

I haven't used that in reference to a good read in a loong while...
No....I am not a fan of the Twilight Saga...I even did not know what it was about...until I saw and read this article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer about this book turned into a movie...a much-awaited movie of the books' fans...like all the buzz over the Harry Potter books and movies...no...this is not about a new wizard...but of a teen romance...yeah right so what makes it uniquely different is ...it's a romance between this regular highschool girland an extraordinarily beautiful guy...who's a vampire!hahahaha
huwat?! Buffy is that you?!

yeah yeah I had my apprehensions...but the article convinced me to at least check out the books
of Stephenie Meyer...there has been blogs...myspace accounts made by fans of the Twilight Saga and now a much anticipated movie Twilight that would be out this December...
and when I dropped by Makati last weekend...to kill some time I passed by Powerbooks and checked out the book...it was a good thing that despite its size (ang kapal nya huh!) it's affordable and so I was able to buy a copy...and that night I started reading it...and I even brought it along with me to work the next day to read while waiting for my offical time...that which I rarely do...riveting I tell you...and yup...I hate to admit as i blush and say...Nakakakilig sya eh wahahaha

and you know what has been my gauge that I really liked...loved a romance novel that I've read...is when at some scenes...a lot of scenes...sentimentally sweet poignant scenes... would make me cry...awshucks! and I had the cold! hehe

So if you haven't heard of the Twilight by Stephenie Meyer(Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn)well...I guess you haven't read that muchhaha

I give this...4 stars!

barely breathing

BROKEN

by Lifehouse

The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though i still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning

So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I'm an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for a purpose, they're still looking for life

I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
with a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain is there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on, I'm holdin' on
I'm barely holdin' on to you

I'm hangin' on another day
Just to see what you will throw my way
And I'm hangin' on to the words you say
You said that I will be ok

The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home

thinking of a name like Angelina and Brad

I guess you guys know that Brangelina had their twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline last weekend...and everyone is in a frenzy about seeing the baby twins first photos...huwow! celebrity na sila agad talaga...

what's even more fascinating is how this couple is so original and unique in thinking of how to name their children...Maddox...Pax...Zahara...Shiloh...diba?! why not the simple John and Jane haha...

and I read the article about how they named their twins...a mixture of old names...meaning names from old relatives...a great grandfather here...and a mother there....just google it and read the article...

and then that's how i thought of this intro...for what this blog is all about...

haha...

you know that I have this small stuffed toy dragon...and I display it on top of my pc monitor in the office...few of my students play with it...and I share how I got it...it was a gift from my former boss when I used to work in a bank...she gave us all stuffed toy animals...and i belatedly ealized...after oooh-ing and aaaah-ing the cuteness of my new toy...that it had on a stitched letter "K" on both sides...haha! kaya pala yun ang binigay nya sakin...because of the K...

hmmmmm...that was...close to 4 years ago...and I thought just now...this morning while 2 of mykids were annoying me again before they go and attend their GK activity hehe...that hey! I still don't have a name for my stuffed toy dragon...

so that's where you guys come in...

why not do a brad and angelina and cook up a unique name for my red dragon huh

sorry no prize...just a little bit of fun

The Dark Knight at Tokyo Tokyo

No...this is not a movie review...well sort of...but just wanted to share that I watched The Dark Knight...last night! it rhymes huh...with close friends.. husband and wife tandem of Cathy and Yatz...spur of the moment thing...

it was a Friday...and did not want to go home yet amidst the fact that I really left school late because of all the work I had to do and to prepare for (the next day)...and I thought of texting Catz...and she was looking for something to do too...

I thought we wouldn't get to meet...coz she was someplace else...and I was itching to leave school...as usual i was the lastone to leave the office and lock its doors...at what? 630?!? good grief!...and despite the not so heavy traffic - that's a first on a friday night...I went down at SM...to kill time...

and Catz texted back that they were there too...nyak! halos magkasunod rin lang pala kami...

suffice it to say...i met up with them...and was craving for...tempura! so we checked out Tempura whatsisname? hehe...di kaya ng budget...so we ended up at Tokyo Tokyo hehe...too bad no more free Imago CD nyahaha...and at last my tempura craving was assuaged!...

wohoo!

*****

as our dinner steadily disappeared down our throats and our kwentuhan winded down...I said...you guys aren't going to the supermarket??! they usually do whenever I meet up with them at SM...but they said no...they did that yesterday...yah right?! then what the fuss ?... magpalibre sana kami sayo ng sine eh...

ganun!...why did you guys say that sooner!...nde un panlilibre huh! hehe gusto ko rin manuod ng sine!

and you know what made last night memorable and funnier?...I knew for a fact that Cat rarely gets to watch a movie...and even with her husband Yatz not that often ...and I shared that...yup! gosh! I can't recall the last movie I watched ...it was that loooong ago...and then she shared...they shared that the last movie they watched was...girlfriend...My Best Friend's Girlfriend!...OMG! then I remembered...that TOO was the last movie I watched! wahahaha..how about that huh....how pathetic! nyahaha

my mom was a text away...i asked permission of course...good girl ako eh...and off we went to catch the last full show...of THE DARK KNIGHT!...

and OMG!

I was sitting at the edge of my seat...

coz I can hardly understand what they are saying! haha kidding! but yeah that was the downside for me for most of the movie...I can hardly understand the dialogue because...I think people has a penchant for whispering at night...it spooks the neighbors! haha

but was it good! yup! it was it was so good!...didn't have much fight scenes or blast scenes...except for that turning 18-wheeler oh and the tunnel chase scene...but hey I'm no spoiler hehe...

what I liked most about the movie is its story...gosh! a psychologist will have a field day understanding the criminal mind of the Joker and his motivation and lack thereof...and of course Batman...his real reason for staying a vigilante and doing that while NOT killing anybody! hanep! now that's what I call pagtitimpi! haha

obvioulsy I'm not a comic book fan...haven't read any of these comic book made into movies...but hey!...I bet they are one good read if it makes you think and be more fascinated with the human psyche...

sorry...that's what you get from socializing with "psych people"...me, cat and yatz were all former guidance counselors did I mention that...so it was a foregone conclusion that we would end up dissecting the characters repressed feelings like Freud haha...

*****

and for those who watched the movie...of course I know the movie was set in HongKong!...right?! haha

I have to watch the movie again...with captions! coz I like the last part of the movie...the part where I hardly understood Gary Oldman! haha...I think it's because of his mustache...wahahaha
